How to Graph Quadratic Function
Talking about drawing graphic of quadratic function is not different with drawing graphic of linear function. Actually, it is almost same, but in quadratic function, we should be more paying our attention because there are some additional steps that are different with linear function. The basic difference between graphic of linear function and graphic of quadratic function is the line. In linear function, the graph forms a straight line, but in quadratic function, the graph forms a curve line or we called it as “parabola”. Now, we will talk about how to graph quadratic function as shown below.
1. First, you should see the function whether it is quadratic function or not.
2. After you know that it is a quadratic function, you should find the intersect point of axes. They are :
a. Find the intersect point of x-axes with y=0
b. Find the intersect point of y-axes with x=0
3. After you already found the intersect point of axes, you should fin the extreme points.
4. Then, you should draw a Cartesian coordinate.
5. You should plot the intersect point of axes and extreme point that you have found on the Cartesian coordinate.
6. Before you connect the point, it is better if you find the additional points. For example if x=1, x=2, x=3, etc.
7. After you have much point, you can connect one point to another point until it forms a curve line.
8. Remember, if you want to connect the point to another point, you should connect it as smooth as you can, so it will be a nice parabola or curve line.
