4.4 Presenting the set in Venn Diagram
Objectives
Students can apply the concept of set and Venn diagram in real life problem.

Your Task
ü You are going to make a poster (in A2 paper) which consists of:
Ø The introduction of the subtopics
Ø Your experiment
Ø The conclusion
ü You can work in a group of  7.
ü In the day of the submission of the poster, you will do “three stay, four stray” activity.

Due Date
You only have 2 weeks to complete this assignment:
ü  VII.A, VII.D, VII.F  : April 3rd, 2012
ü  VII.B, VII.C, VII.E  : April 5th, 2012

Your Experiment
ü  A. Siblings
1.        List the students who have sister(s)!
2.       List the students who have brother(s)!
3.       List the students who have both sister(s) and brother(s)!
ü  B. Favourite Subject
1.        List the students who like Mathematics!
2.       List the students who like English!
3.       List the students who like Natural Science!
4.       List the students who like both of Mathematics and English!
5.       List the students who like both of Mathematics and Natural Science!
6.       List the students who like both of English and Natural Science!
7.       List the students who like three of them; Mathematics, English, and Natural Science!
ü  Make the set notation of each list.
For example:
Let S denotes the set of the students who have sister(s).
S = {Mamed, Dwi, Shinta, Mulyati}

Analyse Your Data
1.        How many students in the classroom?
2.       Find how many of the students who have sister(s) only!
3.       Find how many of the students who have brother(s) only!
4.       Find how many of the students who have no brother and sister!
5.       Find how many of the students who like Mathematics only?
6.       Find how many of the students who like English only?
7.       Find how many of the students who like Natural Science only?
8.       Find how many of the students who dislike three of them?

ü    Make the Venn diagram for the topic A (siblings) and B (Favourite Subject), and then connect it to the questions in “Analyse Your Data”! State your conclusion!
ü     If you want to use another topic, please have a consultation to the teacher.
ü  Each group will conduct the experiment NOT in their own class (it’s decided by the lottery), so the experiment will be conducted in different class for each group.
